Property Tax Return

As a property owner, you have the right to file an ad valorem property tax return (by April 1st).  This return will have an effect on the valuation and property tax bill for the current year.  The return should include any improvements or changes (additions/deletions) to your land and home.

Appealing Tax Assessment

The Tax Assessor's Office mails assessment notices in May which show the values of property for which taxes will be calculated.  Upon receiving the assessment notice you have the right to appeal the value.  Taxpayers have 45 days from the date on the notice to file a written appeal.
TIME IS IMPORTANT - LATE APPEALS ARE INVALID

The following information should be included in your written appeal:

  • Property ID # (1st column on the assessment notice)
  • Your name, address, daytime phone number and email address
  • Reason for appealing (taxability, uniformity, value or denial of homestead exemption)
  • Any pertinent information to support your appeal
