POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for set up of tables and chairs for Savannah Rapids Pavilion, the Canal Headgates, and the Performing Arts Center when necessary. Additional responsibilities include weekend cleaning of common areas and public restrooms within the Lockkeepers’ Cottage as well as the Dance Pavilion and insuring the parking area, park and canal areas are kept in a neat and clean manner.

The incumbent in the position works independently as well as with a team to provide oversight of the heavy cleaning associated with Master’s preparation and deep cleaning in the kitchens at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The incumbent will also be responsible for planning for upcoming events and making sure that preparations are completed in a timely manner.

Successful performance results in properly set up and prepared rooms for client usage. Errors could result in lost revenue for the Rental Facilities & Venues Department.

Work will be performed inside and outside at Savannah Rapids Pavilion and Visitor Center, the Historic Canal Headgates Buildings, and the Performing Arts Center on the weekends. Most of the work will be done after hours on weekdays and late at night on weekends.

The incumbent will occasionally be exposed to cold or inclement weather, lifting of both light and heavy objects weighing more than twenty-five pounds, bending, and climbing on ladders. Employee will be required to wear a back brace.

Contacts are typically with co-workers, clients, vendors and visitors from the park area.

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent is required. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with 2 years of experience in maintenance, janitorial or similar field is desired.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel from one facility to another is required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performs all set ups of table and chairs according to week-at-a-glance calendar at the appropriate time with general instruction.

Performs all janitorial work required to maintain a clean and neat appearance both inside and outside of all facilities outlined which includes all closets and mechanical rooms.

Identifies or recognizes maintenance or safety hazards and takes appropriate action to correct in a timely manner.

Performs regular cleaning and minor maintenance in two kitchens and on ice machines, ovens, mechanical room drains, and maintains in proper working condition.

Coordinates with other janitorial/set up staff to complete tasks on time.

Performs prearranged set ups that the client has specifically requested.

Carries out special instructions that will differ for each event.

Makes table arrangement adjustments where applicable to comply with fire code and allowable traffic flow.

Insures that each facility is left in safe condition for public use.

Insures that each facility is prepared for occupancy by clients and their guests.

Insures that each facility is in clean, safe and in working order both inside and outside.

Notes any maintenance issues and either repairs or refers to the proper agency.

Travels to other facilities when necessary.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Skill understanding and following oral and written instructions.

Skill working with a diverse client base and excellent customer service skills.

Ability to understand kitchen equipment operations and performance of minor maintenance.

Ability to review floor plan layouts and carry out client requests, insuring that placement of tables and chairs are according to fire codes and normal safety requirements.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
