POSITION SUMMARY 
The available position is for a Generator Section Supervisor. The tasks of this position include but are not limited to the repair of portable and stationary generators owned and managed by the county. The supervisor is also directly responsible for scheduling and overseeing all out-sourced repairs as related to generators. The position is responsible for the communication with the end users/department managers throughout the county. The position requires the ability to work in various environments and positions such as: sitting, crouching, standing, bending, etc. for prolonged periods of time. The ability to work in varying conditions is a must with work taking place in a shop and outside. This position requires the supervisor to use computer diagnostics and computer based fleet management software.

A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required. Applicant must possess or have the ability to obtain (4) ASE certifications within the (6) month probation period. Secondary and/or post-secondary training is desired but not required for this position. On-the-job training or apprentice/internship will be required if applicant does not have formal secondary/post-secondary training. Incumbent must complete a 6 month probationary period. Ability to obtain a Class 4 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of probationary period is required. All applicants are required to have necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Specialized training and sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having a similar position for two to four years. Possession of or the ability to attain (4) ASE or Industry related certifications within 6 months of date of hire. Possession or ability to readily obtain a valid commercial drivers license (CDL) class 4 within 6 months of date of hire. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain necessary hand tools are required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Scheduling and performing maintenance and repairs for generators throughout the county

Perform diagnostics and repairs for county generators and other equipment as needed

Perform preventative maintenance
Deploy back-up generators in emergency situations or in event of prolonged downtime due to repairs

Computer input and completion of work orders/data according to service rendered

Orders parts for repairs and completes and signs work order as to service rendered

Schedule and oversee out-sourced repairs

Perform annual fuel polishing, load bank testing

Perform monthly inspections and annual maintenance

Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate and coordinate with section employees and other departments to ensure timely and complete repair

Ability to use computer based systems including data entry and email

Knowledge of all systems of the generator including transfer switches/switch gear

Proficient with diagnostic equipment and various types of automotive lifts and hoists. This job also requires some welding and metal working skill as it relates to generator and equipment repair.

Ability to be available to work short notice overtime and emergency on-call shifts as needed.

Willing to continue training as required. This training includes but is not limited to local classroom style training, manufacture based conferences as well as online training.

Ability to read, write and do basic math equations as those skills relate to service manuals, work orders and general automotive maintenance and repair.
